Although Babaker from Saudi Arabia has purchased about 70000 Mt of Rice 70b/30p at $640 cnf, he has as yet not opened the L/C. Hence prices have fallen as exports are very low. He is expected to visit India during April when he is expected to buy more and confirm dates for his shipments. Other than the above there are small quantities sold to the Middle East. Basmati rice prices have fallen, because of March ending book closure. Prices of all other varieties are stable.
Saudi buyers have already started showing interest in buying and are expected to buy in large quantities in April/May when the expected rice in prices may materialize.
