The United States said it was slapping punitive tariffs on several European food products in retaliation for what Washington called unfair limits on US rice sold in the EU market.

New Crop
No large trade reported. Old crop Basmati and new crop rice are available. Prices are more or less as per expectations. Arrivals of Paddy is now more or less over. Soon wheat crop will start arriving in Mandis. Due to absence of overseas buyers, prices had shown a slight downward trend but other than Basmati, prices of all varieties have risen.
Saudi buyers are expected to buy in large quantities in March. As the prices are still low, now is the correct time to buy.
